Maybe it’s the roar of the ventilation in my office. Maybe I’ve recently acquired a thick accent. Maybe my queries collided in cyberspace with those from someone with very different interests. Whatever the case, my first try of the new iPhone Google Mobile App was a hoot.
Since the iPhone knows where I am, I chose as my first search: “Where’s the nearest Greek restaurant?”
Google heard: “blues singers Greek restaurant“. First restaurant on the list was in Vancouver, which I guess is nearby on a cosmic scale.
I said: SDSU.
Google heard: SCSU
I said “damn stupid thing”
Google heard “hamster pictures”
Then I said “WebQuest” and Google heard “WebQuest” and I decided I liked it after all.
Hi Bernie,
Don’t say Jarbas. Or say it. For some weird reason, many people hear Jarbas and say Harbas. At SDSU there are a couple of old transcripts calling me Harbas. And two weeks ago, an invitation for a seminar in Uruguay reached my e-mail with Harbas. Next time I will tell them to call me J. Would anyone or any machine shitf that to H? Abraço, Jarbas.

Hi Bernie…found your blog as I was looking for all kinds of websquest as I’m in the process of creating on for my Clad classess. I starting reading your blog and got engaged. I was a student of SDSU back in 1985….I was on semester break visiting my cousin in Hawai’i and I never went back to finish school. I got my teaching credential from U of Hawai’i.
just wanted to say HI!
